Bishop’s Story- Part 2

The Meet & Greet

The fosters pull up (young couple) and they have 2 dals in the car.

They both jump out but I knew which one I was there for. He came out all excited and ready to explore his world.

We all chatted for a bit, I would observe & pet him and he was friendly... this is good

"How is he with other animals?"  And just then another dog was walking by at the park. Bishop didn't react at all

( ok, that's good - as I observed)

The one important thing, how was he going to be with Tiny Tim??  Tiny came out, I set him on the grass very guarded incase I need to snatch him up.... there was no reaction, Bishop just sniffed him

( this is good)

I said to both parties, "looks like he'll be coming home"  and the rest of the paperwork was then filled out. While we were filling out the paperwork, the foster asked if they can take him on one last walk around the little lake at the park. My heart went out to them because you could tell they were attached to him. She told me she was bringing him to work every day because he had some separation anxiety. I can imagine (especially now) how that would've been hard for her to say goodbye, and yet I was thankful to hear he has gotten good environmental exposure.

The walk was finished and now we all stood outside the cars. The rescue had me come to her vehicle, she said she had a box for me. A box?  It was a box of things his previous owner had packed up for Bishop to take to his new home. It had sweaters, leashes, raincoat, toys, etc. And an envelope, which contained 4 pages of everything about Bishop. This dog was so loved.

The instructions, all about Bishop

It stated on the post the previous owners had life changing events and that's why he was available. To this day, I have never asked. I don't really need to know, I just know he was very loved.

I packed up things, and we all knew it was time to go. I opened up my back door, opened up the kennel

"I don't know how he is going to be, we haven't had him in a kennel"

(  OOOH this could be a LOOOONG ride home)

They gave him hugs and said their goodbyes, I took his leash and he literally jumped right into the car, walked into the kennel and sat down.

"Oh (they laughed) looks like he's ready to go"

The doors closed, and the new adventure began. The ride home.....stay tuned for Part 3
