Bishop’s Mission provides wellness support, critical resources, and peer support to k9 teams and the responders who rely on them

We work alongside departments to ensure K9 teams have the ongoing support they deserve.

We are actively supporting K9 teams right now—and we can’t do it without you!

Supporting both ends of the leash

Bishop’s Mission supports first responders through two core services:

  1. Support for department-assigned and support K9s through supplies, wellness resources, and education to strengthen agency K9 programs. We prevent K9 burnout before it ends their career.

  2. On-call peer support services for first responders, providing Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), ASAP (Acute Stress Adaptive Protocol) support following critical or traumatic incidents.

Who We Are

Bishop’s Mission is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing peer support for first responders and promoting the wellness, readiness, and longevity of the support K9s who serve alongside them. We respond on a call-out basis following critical or traumatic incidents, offering support when it’s needed most.

K9 teams give everything to the job—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Behind the scenes, both the dog and the handler carry that weight long after the shift ends.

Ongoing K9 wellness, decompression, and support are essential to sustaining these teams and the work they do.

We support both ends of the leash.

How We Serve Departments

  • Built on real-world experience in first response and the pet industry, we offer consulting services to help develop, strengthen, and sustain support dog programs.

  • Bishop’s Mission ensures ongoing wellness support, and quality-of-life resources for active support K9s beyond their initial deployment.

  • Training and education for K9 handlers focused on K9 wellness, preventative care, and best practices to support the long-term health and readiness of service K9s.

  • Bishop’s Mission provides on-call peer support for first responders, delivering Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and ASAP acute stress support following critical or traumatic incidents.

  • Bishop’s Mission provides essential K9 wellness resources, including donated supplies and services, to help departments maintain and sustain their K9 programs over time.

Supporting Bishop’s Mission means standing alongside first responders and the support K9s who protect our communities. Individuals, businesses, and organizations can get involved by volunteering their time, making tax-deductible donations, or becoming a sponsor to directly support on-call peer support services, Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and ASAP response efforts, and continuation of care for department support K9s. Every contribution—whether time, resources, or financial support—helps ensure first responders receive timely peer support after critical incidents and that K9 programs are sustained well beyond initial startup.
